Central Railway to operate mega block on Main, Harbour lines tomorrow

Railway officials said the mega block is essential for infrastructure upkeep and ensuring operational safety.

The Central Railway’s Mumbai Division will operate a mega block on key suburban sections of the Main Line and Harbour Line on Sunday, December 28, to carry out maintenance works.

Fast lines between Matunga and Mulund stations will be blocked on the Main Line from 11.05 am to 3.45 pm. During this period, all services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between 10.36 am and 3.10 pm will be diverted to the slow line at Matunga station. These trains will halt at all scheduled stations between Matunga and Mulund and are expected to arrive at their destinations around 15 minutes behind schedule. Fast services beyond Thane will be re-diverted to the fast line at Mulund.

Similarly, fast services leaving Thane between 11.03 am and 3.38 pm will be diverted to the slow line at Mulund, halt at scheduled stations up to Matunga, and then be re-diverted to the fast line. These trains are also expected to reach their destinations approximately 15 minutes late.

On the Harbour Line, services between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra will remain suspended from 11.40 am to 4.40 pm, while services from Chunabhatti/Bandra to CSMT will be suspended from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.

As a result, Harbour Line services to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel leaving CSMT between 11.16 am and 4.47 pm, as well as services to Bandra and Goregaon leaving CSMT between 10.48 am and 4.43 pm, will remain cancelled. Harbour Line services for CSMT leaving Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi between 9.53 am and 3.20 pm, and those leaving Goregaon and Bandra between 10.45 am and 5.13 pm, will also remain suspended.

“These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and to ensure the safety of suburban train operations. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused,” said Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway.
