The court of civil judge (senior division) Anshul Berry has issued summons to co-owners and vice-president of Kings XI Punjab to appear before the court on April 2.

Preity Zinta,Ness Wadia and Arvinder Singh are facing a civil suit in relation to an advertisement, which carried names of freedom fighters Chandarshekhar Azad,Bhagat Singh,Sukhdev and Rajguru.

According to complainants, the names were carried to allegedly garner publicity, which is a violation of The Emblem and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act,1950. The act prohibits improper use of names or ideals that inspired the freedom struggle.

Advocate Arvind Thakur, one of the three complainants, said the summons would be handed over on Tuesday or during the match on Wednesday. “They have been saying that they are not stationed at one place,as they travel with the team. But we will ensure that the summons are handed over to them when they arrive in the city for the match on March 24,” Thakur said.

The complainants include Abhey Singh Sandhu,a nephew of Bhagat Singh.

The complainants have demanded permanent injunction, restraining team-owners from publishing names of freedom fighters for publicity.
