Cop booked for demanding bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted a raid in the Sector-31 police station and booked a Chandigarh Police Sub-Inspector for demanding a bribe.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted a raid in the Sector-31 police station and booked a Chandigarh Police Sub-Inspector for demanding a bribe. Charanjeet Singh was allegedly for demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant for releasing his Skoda car. The accused is yet to be arrested. Meanwhile,a case of corruption under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered.

Acting on the complaint of Kuldeep Singh,a Sangrur resident,the raid was conducted in the afternoon when the CBI sleuths raided the police station but the S-I was not present there. He supposedly got a tip off prior to the raid and thus escaped,CBI said.

The CBI then asked the SHO of the police station Bakshish Singh to summon the SI and then carried on with their investigations in the police station for over six hours.
