The woman was identified as Himani Narwal, a Congress party worker from the district, they added.
Some people spotted the suitcase lying on the highway near a flyover next to the Sampla bus stand and informed the police. A police team that reached the spot opened the suitcase and found the body of a woman stuffed inside. The body was sent for post mortem examination.
Sampla police station in-charge Bijendra Singh said, “It is a murder and we are investigating it. The deceased has been identified as Himani Narwal. We are contacting her family members. Further investigations are on”:.
Meanwhile, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Rohtak MLA BB Batra expressed deep shock and demanded a high level investigation into the incident.
“The murder in this manner…is extremely sad and shocking. This in itself is a blot on the law and order of the state. There should be a high-level, impartial investigation into this entire case, and the culprits should receive the harshest punishment as soon as possible,” Hooda said, demanding “exemplary action” so that in the future, “anyone with criminal tendencies will think a thousand times before committing such an act”.
Batra said Narwal had also participated in Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Haryana leg and was an active party worker.
“It is a barbaric incident. I appeal to the state government to catch the culprits at the earliest and punish the guilty,” Batra said.
