Chaudhary cited his commitments to his constituency as the reason behind his resignation.
However, sources suggest that the recent political upheaval within the party, triggered by speculation surrounding Channi’s nomination, may have played a role in Chaudhary’s decision.
The controversy escalated when supporters of Chaudhary thronged Channi’s residence in Morinda with a cake adorned with ‘Sadha Channi Jalandhar’ to celebrate the former CM’s birthday. This gesture, seen as an endorsement of Channi’s candidacy, reportedly drew ire from Chaudhary Santokh Singh’s family.
