Cong seeks CBI probe on Jaypee mess

The Opposition Congress on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Governor Urmila Singh demanding a CBI probe into Jaiparkash Associates Limited setting up a cement and a thermal plant in the state.

SHIMLA: The Opposition Congress on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Governor Urmila Singh demanding a CBI probe into Jaiparkash Associates Limited (JAL) setting up a cement and a thermal plant in the state.

The high court’s green bench had imposed a penalty of Rs 100 crore on JAL for setting up a cement and a thermal plant in gross violations of rules.

Party president Kaul Singh Thakur and CLP leader Vidya Stokes led a 20-member delegation to Raj Bhawan and handed over a four-page memorandum slamming the BJP government. The memorandum alleged that the government has become a puppet in the hands of the mafia — be it oland,illegal mining,builders,hotels or IPL.
