Cong panel says Sidhu violated code

Legal cell of the District Congress Committee today charged BJP Lok Sabha MP Navjot Singh Sidhu with violating the model code of conduct by misusing the Summer Palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh,a protected monument,and causing defacement by constructing roads.

Legal cell of the District Congress Committee today charged BJP Lok Sabha MP Navjot Singh Sidhu with violating the model code of conduct by misusing the Summer Palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh,a protected monument,and causing defacement by constructing roads.

In a letter to the Election Commission,Gagan Bhatia,an advocate and chairman of the legal cell,said,The monument is covered under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act,1958,and only the Archaeological Department can carry out any construction here. No developmental work or maintenance can be carried out here without their approval.
