Congress MLA Sunil Jakhar on Friday dared the SAD-BJP government in Punjab to have a live telecast of the proceedings of the Vidhan Sabha on Saturday.
Jakhar,in a statement, said the live telecast will allow the people to decide the veracity of the allegations levelled by the Congress and the credibility of the governments response. He added that the government was running away from facing tough questions, seeking refuge in silence and hiding behind parliamentary procedures and rules.
Jakhar said that instead of responding to issues like land acquisition at Govindpura, failure to seek Rs 1,415 crore from the Centre in NREGS and replying to charges of corruption in distribution of kerosene and wheat,Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was sitting through the Assembly as a mute spectator.
He claimed that October 8 will prove to be the longest day in the ensuing battle between Congress and SAD-BJP and will mark the beginning of the end for this coalition government.
Meanwhile, state Congress president Amarinder Singh on Friday suggested to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare to verify the credentials of the Badals’ before coming to Punjab in their support.
“After all,it is the question of Anna’s credibility as well,as which type of people he is going to support”,he told a press conference after meeting the workers of the three Assembly segments of Faridkot,Kot Kapura and Jaito here.
Replying to a question about the claims made by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Sukhbir that Hazare would be coming to Punjab in their support,he said “once Anna Hazare learns about the enormity of corruption during the present government,he will never come to support them.”
