On every visit to the country since his rise to fame in 2004,comedian Russell Peters has invariably created a stir. While his fan following has grown with every show in India,Peters has also had his fair share of criticism. More so,perhaps, from Bollywood fans than any others, for his remarks on the industry two years ago. But that hasnt deterred people from turning up in hordes to watch his stand-up acts and,on occasion, even demanding extra shows. So,the Canadian-born comedian of Indian origin returns to India in October for a multi-city tour with his largest production yet,The Russell Peters Notorious World Tour. Organised by Mumbai-based event company Only Much Louder and Micromax, the tour will begin at HUDA Grounds in Delhi on October 25. This will be followed by shows in Mumbai on October 27; Chennai two days later; and finally,Bangalore on October 31.
The stand-up comedy culture in India is really taking off, says Vijay Nair,CEO,Only Much Louder. Its going to be fantastic to have Russell Peters, who has such a strong connect with India, perform here. Tickets for the show will go on sale September 3 onwards, and prices range from Rs 2,000 to Rs 6,000 in Mumbai,Bangalore and Delhi, and Rs 1,500 to Rs 6,000 in Chennai.
