This Holi, many in the city will wear white to revel in the riot of colours
For most of us,Holi translates into the unadulterated fun of throwing buckets of coloured water at each other, hands smeared with gulaal, dressed in shabby,run-down clothes. After all,who would want to sport fancy designer wear on a day like this? I would, says city-based television anchor Jaspreet Brar a.k.a. Jassi, who loves to dress up in white on Holi. It is a tradition I have stuck to all these years, she adds.
Popular and effervescent radio jockey Meenakshi has her Holi clothes planned out as well. My friends often joke on how dress up for Holi but that is the way I am, says the MY FM RJ. This time, she went shopping at the local khadi store, buying herself a kurta that she will team up with a flowing white chiffon dupatta and a white churidaar to match. We choose to wear new clothes for most festivals,so why not for Holi, she reasons. Most of us have more than one white kurta,a summer staple,in our wardrobe. I recommend that we make the most of them, she says.
Dr Prakash Bhatia and his wife Rashmia doctor couple from Panchkulawill also be dressing up in white. This year,Holi coincides with our wedding anniversary, Rashmi said. It is a theme party and we are asking all our friends to dress up in white, her husband pitches in. White or not,we hope Holi remains as colourful as ever.
