The Dental Sciences department of the Government Multi Speciality Hospital,Sector 16 recently turned into a live-action scene for over a dozen electronic channels who thronged the hospital as news of a wrong extraction of tooth spread. Within minutes,the channelwallahs were seen pushing each other in order to be the first ones to break the news to their viewers by panning the camera. Perplexed,the patient,an 11-year-old girl,had never seen such a media circus hurling questions at her. Just when the girl had finished saying a few words,hesitatingly,about how the doctor took out a wrong tooth instead of the one which was paining,one of the camera persons asked the girl to open her mouth for a minute for an inside shot to show the blunder!

Whom to congratulate?

A day after a notification confirming transfer of acting Chief Justice A K Goel to Guwahati High Court was received,rumours were afloat that Justice M M Kumar,the next in command,has also been elevated. Confused,lawyers were in a fix as to whom to congratulate as the next acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

UT’s Top Brass exposed

After the Supreme Court slammed Chandigarh Administration,for not following the right process in launching High Security Registration Plates process in the city. Hasty decisions taken by Chandigarh Administration stand exposed. The Chandigarh Administration,without following SC’s guidelines,launched the scheme and invited vendors to come and start fastening HSRPs. However,now with the Supreme Court coming down heavily on Chandigarh Administration,forcing it to relaunch the entire scheme again,the UT’s top brass has cut a sorry-figure and the consumer is left hassled.

Words fail,action prevails

Being repeatedly questioned by media over the poor condition of government schools in the periphery,DPI (Schools) has apparently fallen short of answers which could overshadow his department’s apathy. He called a meeting of heads of all the government schools this week for instructing them to improve the basic amenities in their respective schools. He also admitted in front of the heads that he is fed-up of cooking answers for justifying the delay in actions to the journalists,who have been ringing him up quite frequently for the past month.

What’s that stench?

A senior official of the Administration had the municipal corporation in a tizzy after a stench in his neighbourhood bothered him late in the evening.

A team from MC was summoned and a hunt started for a dead animal,however none could be found in the area.

While the search had to be abandoned after some time,the possibility of it being stench from the garbage processing plant has not been ruled out.

Media disallowed

Additional Civil Judge Jaibir Singh questioned the Centra Bureau of Investigations on scant grounds,on which they were seeking a 12-day custody of four accused in Tejas Gaba kidnapping case. The investigation agency replied that they did not want media to hear everything.

Only two-day custody was granted. Next time,the CBI produced the whole investigation record before the court and the judge asked the media to leave the court room on request of CBI counsel.

Later,the judge specifically mentioned in his order,while granting six-day custody to the accused,that the media persons were asked to leave.
