yes,no,yes
The CBI counsel seemed to have been overpowered by indecisiveness as he struggled to respond to a volley of questions thrown at him by the Court last week during the resumed hearing of the infamous teachers recruitment scam. How many reports did the CBI have was the simple question, the answer, however did not come easy. Here are the replies. First reply there is a report and noting by the senior functionaries. Second there are two reports and notings of senior officials. When asked for the reports, the counsel came up with a gem. There are no reports, only notings. While the Bench was not amused, the audience was laughing.
Maid crisis
It appears that the Chandigarh Polices motto We Care for You is being interpreted by people to get all their needs fulfilled. The Cyber Cell of UT Police got into a peculiar situation, where they received a complaint from a Chandigarh resident, urging the police to track the location of a mobile phone. When the police asked the complaint the reasons for which he wanted the given mobile phones location; the cops were told that the phone belongs to the complainants domestic help, who had not been coming for work for the last seven days and the complainant is in dire need of the domestic help. Infact, the police later discovered that the complainant wanted police to trace his domestic help,so that he could tell him that the wages could be negotiated, but the domestic help must not leave the job and come back.
A phone alert
Next time if someone requests you for your phone to make an urgent phone call, think twice as this might be a new way of snatching mobiles. Recently,a mobile was snatched from a student in Sector 19 after he handed over his mobile handset to an unidentified person for making an urgent phone call. As the gentle boy handed over his mobile handset to the unknown person,he immediately dialed a number and started conversation over the phone. While talking he moved towards the other side of the road and vanished. The student and his father searched desperately for snatcher but could not trace him.
Cat fight
With the councillors of the Municipal Corporation in poll mode, trading of allegations has touched a new low. Two women councillors of the civic body who were former Mayors, while trying to portray each other in poor light, blamed each other for anomalies in projects like Garbage Processing Plant and Sweeping Machines. The arguments stooped to such a level that one of them alleged that the other took all five family members on the study tour, while the other alleged that atleast her physiotherapist did not go on the study tour at MCs expense. All efforts to stop the two seemed in vain.
Just preaching
After faltering more than once to give information under the RTI Act,PGI is now vowing to ensure that no information should be concealed and providing info under the RTI act should be a rule. During the recently concluded workshop of the department of hospital administration, doctors stated said that providing information under RTI Act should be a rule and denying the same should be an exception. But going by the increasing number of cases wherein information had been denied by the PGI,it remains to be seen whether it remains preaching or translates into practice.
Notices hard to go unnoticed
Apart from usual notices and rules for residents on the notice boards at Panjab University hostels, what could be noticed is unusual hand written notices by the students with their mobile phone numbers. While a notice put up at one of the boys hostels announced a reward of Rs 500 to the one who would find the lost ray ban aviator sun glasses of a resident who forgot them in the hostel mess, others announced a similar kind of appreciation to the one who would inform about the lost denim jeans of a female resident. Another such notice pled to the residents or whoever has taken the mobile phone to leave its sim card at the hostel drop box and can keep the phone as it has very important data.
