The members of the Chandigarh Housing Board Federation held a rally in Sector 56 on Sunday for the fulfillment of their demands. The residents of houses made by CHB have been holding protests demanding the regularization of need-based changes.

They are also demanding the transfer of ownership rights to all residents of the rehabilitation colonies who are allottees or have bought their houses on power of attorney.

The adoption of a citizen’s charter or a Right to Services Act and putting in place a public audit system are some of the other demands.

The speakers at the rally from different political parties highlighted how notices were regularly being sent to the residents.

The members of the federation urged their political leaders to come forward to tell the Board authorities to stop all this and address seriously the problem of the regularization of need-based changes made in houses in CHB and rehabilitation colonies.

The gathering was told that in addition to 3,500 residents who had already signed the federation’s pledge last month in village Dhanas, this month 2,000 more residents from the village and 5,000 residents of Sector 56 have signed the pledge. The pledge states that they will vote for the leader who secures their houses against demolition.
