Northern Railway today flagged off the 22452/22451 Chandigarh-Bandra Terminus weekly super fast express train from Chandigarh railway station,as announced in the 2011-2012 Railway Budget. The train was given the green signal by MP Pawan Bansal at 10.30 am today.
In its regular run,train no. 22452 Chandigarh-Bandra Terminus weekly Superfast Express train will depart form Chandigarh at 5.45 am on every Sunday to arrive at Bandra Terminus at 9.20 am the next day. Similarly,train no. 22451 Bandra Terminus-Chandigarh weekly Superfast Express train will leave Bandra Terminus at 12.05 pm and reach Chandigarh at 4.20 pm the next day.
The train will begin its regular services from tomorrow from Bandra Terminus in Mumbai. While its regular functioning will commence on 25th of this month. from Chandigarh,the booking for the same had already started from Friday.
The train consists of two tier AC,3 tier AC,sleeper class and second class accommodations. The train will stop at Ambala Cantt,Panipat,Delhi Cantt,Gurgaon,Rewari,Narnaul,Neem Ka Thana,Ringus,Phulera,Ajmer,Marwar,Falna,Abu Road,Palanpur,Mehsana,Ahmedabad,Anand,Vadodara,Bharuch,Surat and Borivali stations en route in both the directions.
In the press conference held post event the minister had to field a volley of questions regarding the budget and other issues of the city. On the criticism of budget by rival parties,Bansal said the opposition parties may not have read the budget properly.
How can people term the Budget as anti-government,which gives Rs 1.88 lakh crore on food,petroleum and fertilisers, he said.
I am surprised that the Budget that has raised the agricultural credit up to Rs 5.5 lakh crore where the government proposes additional subvention of three percent of the interest for the prompt paying farmers. The budget that has proposed investment of Rs 50 lakh crore in infrastructural investment and that announces 10 crore jobs for skill development and employment is termed as corporate budget. We could not have had a better Budget, he added.
When questioned on the functioning of the government on the coming one week he said,The government has numbers and the functioning will be stable.
The press also questioned him on the failure of the railway budget this year in fulfilling the demands made by the residents of the city.
We have sent a proposal for having another line from Chandigarh to Yamunanagar to the planning commission. Also in this year budget we have proposed to finish the incomplete Chandigarh-Ludhiana track. All this takes time. I promise the need of Chandigarh will be fulfilled. We have proposals for Chandigarh . But we have other priorities as well, he said.
He also informed that the train that has been flagged today would be working twice a week against the earlier announcement of it running once a week.
