Officials during a special drive to check school buses in Mohali on Thursday. Express
Acting on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a team comprising sub-divisional magistrate and deputy superintendent of police (traffic) carried out a special checking drive on the school buses in the district.
During the drive, 58 buses were issued challans and three buses were impounded for not maintaining proper documents.

The sub-divisional magistrate, Lakhmir Singh, said that the checking drive was carried out on the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court. He added that the team also met the school managements during the drive and told them to make sure that the school buses do not ply without the required documents.
He said that it is the duty of the schools to keep a check on the safety norms.
The deputy superintendent of police (traffic), Amroz Singh, told the Chandigarh Newsline that a total of 303 school buses were checked and 58 challans were issued, while three school buses were impounded during the drive in the district.
He added that the drive was carried out in the whole district.
The DSP (traffic) added that few norms, like keeping a first aid box and a female attendant, should be followed by the buses. The medical check-up of the bus driver is also important.
