As per RLA officials, the three-day e-auction, held from December 20 to 22, covered the new CH01-DC series (numbers 0001 to 9999) [AI image].The premium vehicle registration number “0001” from the CH01-DC series drew intense bidding at the latest e-auction conducted by the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA), fetching Rs 31.35 lakh — the second-highest bid ever for a fancy number in Chandigarh. The reserve price for the number was set at just Rs 50,000.
As per RLA officials, the three-day e-auction, held from December 20 to 22, covered the new CH01-DC series (numbers 0001 to 9999) along with unsold fancy and special numbers from earlier series. In all, 485 registration numbers were auctioned, generating a total revenue of Rs 2.96 crore for the administration.
Among the top bids, “0009” emerged as the second most expensive number, selling for Rs 20.72 lakh, followed by “0007” at Rs 16.13 lakh. Other high-value numbers included “9999” at Rs 13.66 lakh, “0005” at Rs 11.07 lakh, “0010” at Rs 10.17 lakh, “0006” at Rs 7.02 lakh, “0003” at Rs 5.63 lakh, and “7777” at Rs 5.26 lakh.
Despite the strong showing, the all-time record remains intact. The highest-ever bid was recorded in August this year, when “0001” of the CH01-DA series fetched Rs 36.43 lakh. The third-highest bid—Rs 31 lakh—was for “0001” of the CH01-CZ series in May, while the fourth-highest stood at Rs 26.7 lakh for the CH01-AP series. Another notable auction saw “0001” of the CH01-CY series go for Rs 25 lakh.
