CCA exhibits works of 50 alumni

An Exhibition of achievements of Chandigarh College of Architecture alumni at Sector 12 was the main highlight of the second day of the institution’s golden jubilee today.

An Exhibition of achievements of Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA) alumni at Sector 12 was the main highlight of the second day of the institution’s golden jubilee today.

The works of the 50 alumni included Ravi Kumar Gupta’s (1969 batch) designing of Kothari Garh,Jaipur; Oberoi’s Raj Villas,Jaipur; Hotel Heritage and Suryagarh,Jaisalmer,designing of three airports – Raja Sansi,Amritsar,Srinagar Airport and Dehradun Airport by Harpal Singh (1971 batch) and Vinod (1980 batch).

The exhibition also included a display of Hotel Best Western,Merrion,Amritsa and Indraprastha resort,Dalhousie designed by Dalbir Singh from 1972 batch and Chandigarh College of Nursing,Chandigarh Baptist School and Civil Hospital,Punjab designed by Sarabjit Singh Baga of 1978 batch.

While,the design which attracted maximum appreciation by the visitors was that of Namrita Kalsi of 1984 batch.

She is credited with bringing out the layout plan for Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) Bhawan and Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Council (DSIIDC).

The exhibition was inaugurated by S D Sharma,former UT chief architect. He said,“I have a long association with the college. Since its establishment in 1961,I have been visiting the college for guest lectures.”

“Over these years,a lot many things have changed in the college with the change in the students’ perspectives. However,I can still find the artistic air all around. The love for art and architecture among students will take the legacy forward,” said Sharma.

The alumni made presentations of their future designs.
