City’s Khushboo Kochhar Grewal on her sweet touch in Munde UK De

Khusbhoo Kochhar Grewal has a confession to make. “I’m completely biased towards Chandigarhians, especially Punjabis,” she makes her little announcement right after the release of her film,Munde UK De. We must say that Manmohan Singh used quite a trump card to gauge and engage audiences in what’s being reviewed as a hilarious Punjabi comedy. “I make an entry after the interval. You see,Jimmy Sheirgill and Gurpreet Ghuggi’s characters are in a fix and ring up their friend, which is me,in Canada to rescue them,” in steps Khushboo as the bubbly, chirpy NRI Candy. “In fact,it was one of my co-workers at B4U who referred my name to Manmohanji, and the minute he saw me,he said,‘you are my Candy,” tells Khushboo,in town visiting her parents and updating us on her life and times which also includes her role in this year’s hit,Raaz – The Mystery Continues. “There’s another film I worked on,Rohit Nayyar’s Aasma, but you know,my priority has always been Punjabi films, and it’s not a new obsession, but one which dates back eight years when Jee Aaya Nu was released,” Khushboo saw the film and told her parents that she would act in Punjabi films one day. Which she is,but in the meantime,it’s veejaying for B4U,and a zillion other things. “There’s a new channel called Punjaabi TV,and I’m acting-cum-anchoring on it,” she tells us. The show’s called Ek Dholi,Ek Boli, and Khushboo plays a sheher di mem, while her telly partner plays a paindu guy,and there’s Bollywood news coupled with their nok jhok on it. When telly takes a break, live shows including weddings, entertainment nights, corporate events, advertisements, fashion shows and theatre step in. “Well,I’m reading scripts and looking forward to a film music video Kabhi Up Kabhi Down, then this international film,Valley of Flowers for which I’ve given a voice-over,and yes, there’s a solo dance number called ‘Do ghutt pee lay’ sung by Sunidhi Chauhan in Munde UK De which has made it too the UK BBC radio list!” she carries on. Married for three years now,Khushboo takes the opportunity and recommends everyone to tie the knot. “Had it not been for my husband,Bipin Grewal,I would’ve not made it this far,” blushes the bride, stressing that marry early,so that you then enjoy a ‘single’ coupledom! “It’s blissful,” she smiles. Back to reality, she’s open to all, movies, telly, music videos, anchoring….”anything where I get to talk because I love talking, and what better than being paid for it?” That’s right girl!
