‘Lage Raho Anna Bhai’

With the whole nation swept away by Anna’s wave against corruption,how could people of Mohali lag behind? Huge posters with catchy slogans and pictures have come up throughout the city. On one poster,the photos of Anna,Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi have been morphed on to the popular ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ movie poster. Anna has replaced Sanjay Dutt on his bike,Kejriwal is riding pillion replacing Arshad (circuit) and Bedi sits in the side car taking the place of Vidya Balan. The poster reads: the Indian people’s production presents ‘Lage Raho Anna Bhai’. Sibal and Digvijay are shown as villians on the sides.

The Municipal Corporation seems to require a lesson in spelling the names of its councillors. On the official website of the civic body,in the section about e-mail addresses of councillors the name of the leader of the Opposition and BJP councillor Gurcharan Dass Kala has been spelt as Gurdaron Dass Kalra. While councillor Anju Beniwa’a’s name has been spelt as Anju Baniwala. As per the website,Superintendent Engineer (Public Health) R K Goyal who was repatriated a few weeks back is still holding the charge.

Students fail teacher

The office of Director Public Instructions (Schools),UT Administration came across a strange complaint this week. One of the teachers who had recently been transferred to a government school located in city’s periphery,sought further transfer to some other school complaining that the students in the school where she has been teaching these days do not approve of her. She stated that the students show their discontent by throwing chalk pieces at her,while she teaches in the class.

Copy to Anna Hazare

A complaint alleging corruption came to Police Complaint Authority,Panchkula. After making allegations,in the end it read” “Copy to SP,Panchkula,Copy to IG,Ambala,and Copy to Anna Hazar”.”

Check on Senators

The notice recently pasted at the Panjab University guest house by the authorities has left the Senators and other faculty members disgruntled over the restrictions imposed on them. As per the notice implicitly addressed to the Senators,anybody without a ‘valid’ work or permission is not allowed to sit in the guest house. The trigger behind such an order has come from the fact that the ‘renovated’ guest house was recently turned into a meeting place for most of the Senators and other members which was considered to be a hindrance in the official meetings scheduled and conducted at the guest house.

Honking protest

Strange were the ways of people to support Anna during the recent country wide protests. In city beautiful,a group of young protesters near Information Technology (IT) Park were out on the street to express solidarity with Anna. While some of the protesters were carrying placard in favour of the Jan Lokpal Bill,a young protester was keenly showing a placard to the motorists. This placard asked the drivers to blow their horn to express their support for Anna.
