The Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police has nabbed a British National,Napper Ned O Conner Tandy (19) on charges of possessing narcotics. Conner,a resident of London,was nabbed at a police checkpost in Sector 38 on Saturday evening with 40 grams charas and 190 gram tablets of psychotropic substance.
According to the investigating officials,Conner was stopped at the checkpost,while he was riding a Bullet motorcycle,without wearing a safety helmet.
Though he tried to escape from the spot,he was overpowered by the policemen.
He was questioned and during the search police found contraband in his possession. Conner was produced in court from where he was sent to judicial custody.
The preliminary investigations revealed that Conner had come to India on a tourist visa,with validity from May 9 to November 8,2011.
He arrived in India on May 22,along with his girlfriend,and hired a Bullet motorcycle HR-12-E-7183) from a mechanicand went to Leh and Ladakh. From there he went to Kashau in Manali,Himachal Pradesh,from where he purchased the narcotics.
A case was registered against Conner under the provisions of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act at Sector 39 police station. Chandigarh Police has informed the British High Commission about Conners arrest.
