The city got a double treat with the Pallavi & Bhairavi Jaikishan showcase The rainbow,as we all know, has seven colours but in the world of Pallavi Jaikishan (wife of the legendary music composer) the rainbow packs in multiple hues. The designer who is known for her ice-candy palette and ethnic embellishments that boast of floral accents made her presence felt at the evening show on the first day of the Chandigarh Fashion Week (CFW). For the citys fashion frat it was a double treat with Pallavis daughter Bhairavi also presenting her vibrant line-up. Its really nice to be part of the Chandigarh Fashion Week, mentioned Pallavi who came on an invitation of the designer store Samsaara where her collection also retails. For those who have caught Jaikishans work earlier will know that the designer has a strong dislike for muddy colours. Life is beautiful.look all around and theres vibrancy and thats my inspiration too, shares the veteran lady of high fashion who remembers being picky about what she wore ever since she was seven! I havent trained in the medium.it was something that came naturally, mentions Pallavi, whose Spring-Summer 2010 line which was showcased at CFW highlighted pastel colours and intricate embellishments gota to embroidery to sequins spread out on form-fitting lehengas, sarees and suits. For me fabrics are my muse. I like working with antique fabrics and ethnic Indian embroideries, explained Pallavi. Likewise,Bhairavis collection kept in line with her mothers style of work. I think the creativity is inherited but Bhairavi is more focused and has a method in her work, perhaps because she has formally studied fashion, pointed out Pallavi. We quizzed the daughter on her style statement and she says,I am happy person and I guess that carries forward into the kind of clothes I design. Like mother, like daughter.
