Mahan Airlines leaves behind 30 passengers

Around 30 passengers were left in the lurch on Friday when Mahan Airlines left them sulking at the local Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport here. The angry passengers,bound for Birmingham,were surprised when the security personnel stopped them from entering the terminal despite their having confirmed tickets. They raised slogans and were later told that they would be adjusted in the next flight.

Doctors oppose increase in PPSC strength

Members of The Doctors Federation of India have strongly deplored the move of the Punjab Government to increase the number of members of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) from the present seven to 10 members on the pretext that there were allegations of corruption against the present members of PPSC in the recruitment of doctors. Federation President Dr DC Sharma said in a press note that the move was purely a political one and not aimed at cleansing the PPSC.

Singhal takes over as NFL CMD

Deepak Singhal has taken over additional charge as Chairman & Managing Director of National Fertilizers Limited (NFL). Singhal,a senior IAS officer of the 1982 batch,has been on the board of NFL since May 2010. At present,he is the Joint Secretary in the Department of Fertilizer,Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers.
