100 farmers held for blocking rail tracks in Jind

JIND:Around 100 farmers were arrested on Monday for blocking the Delhi-Ferozepur railway track in Jind district of Haryana. They had been protesting,at Barsola village,against the the state and union governments for not implementing the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations over the past two days. On Monday morning,they blocked rail traffic forcing police to act. The Jind SP tried to pacify the protesters but when they refused to vacate the rail tracks,police used force and arrested around 100 of them.

Kidnapped minor girl rescued in Rajasthan

KARNAL:The Haryana police have finally recovered a 13-year-old girl,who had been kidnapped from Karnal on February 14,from Rajasthan’s Kairthal village. Police also arrested two accused,including a woman,on charges of kidnapping the girl and criminal conspiracy and produced them in before a local court on Monday. Police said the minor was allegedly kidnapped by Vicky,a resident of Karnal and his wife Mamta,who then took her to Rajasthan. On February 23,police received a tip-off of their presence in Rajasthan. A team of Karnal police raided the suspected hideout of the accused on Sunday and rescued the girl.

Two 14-yr-olds held for murdering classmate

SONEPAT:Two 14-year-old boys allegedly murdered one of their classmates after he insisted that one of them return his cellphone. All the three are Class VIII students at a private school in Haryana’s Sonepat district. According to the police,Shubham (14) had lent his cellphone to one of the suspects last week and when he insisted on getting it back,he was asked to come to the school’s backyard on Friday to collect it. When he reached there,the accused allegedly entered into a heated argument with him and strangled him to death. His body was recovered Saturday morning. “We detained both the suspects and questioned them. They confessed to having committed the crime. As they are merely 14 years old,they have been sent to a juvenile home in Ambala,” said Arun Nehra,Superintendent of Police,Sonepat.
