Beopar mandal stir against FDI
Nahan:Himachal Pradesh Beopar Mandal president Om Prakash Saini on Sunday accused the Centre of playing into the hands of foreign countries by implementing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Saini said that all traders would join a Bharat Bandh on September 20 to protest FDI and would go on an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
DROs to register NRI marriages
Chandigarh:The Punjab government has designated District Revenue Officers to register NRI marriages (earlier it used to be just the tehsildars). Punjab NRI Affairs and Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that now both officers could register the marriages.
Four more districts come under NHM
Chandigarh:The Punjab government has charted out a detailed program to woo farmers towards agriculture diversification by promoting cultivation of fruits,vegetables,oil seeds and pulses. Mansa,Barnala,Moga and Ropar will now come under the National Horticulture Mission and be able to avail the facilities of the project.
DCs to check property records daily: Majithia
Chandigarh:Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia on Sunday said that divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners will now randomly check the records of daily property registration with a view to bring in more transparency and efficiency in the functioning of tehsils and sub-tehsils. He said they will submit their reports to the Financial Commissioner Revenue fortnightly.
