Defector MLA challenges HC order
Chandigarh: Zile Ram Sharma,MLA elected from Assandh Constituency of Haryana, today moved Punjab and Haryana High Court against a judgment of the Single Judge of High Court wherein directions were given to the Speaker to decide the petitions pending before him seeking their disqualification filed by Kuldeep Bishnoi,President,Haryana Janhit Congress Party, within four months on the ground of their alleged defection from HJC (BL) to the Indian National Congress. Sharma has challenged the judgment on the ground that at the stage when the cases are at a preliminary stage, the High Court cannot take cognisance of the matter in view of the law laid down by the Supreme Court. He has contended that fixing of time limit for adjudication of 14 separate petitions pending before the Speaker will abridge his right to lead evidence. To prove the merger of two parties, lot of oral evidence has to be led, which will take time, reads the petition.
