IGMC to regulate attendants entry with free passes
The Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) on Wednesday introduced a new system of passes for regulating entry of patients attendants inside wards. The passes would permit only one attendant per patient at a time. The new system has been introduced after a resident doctor of the paediatric ward was roughed up by a patients attendants on Monday night and a nurse was misbehaved with on Tuesday night. The demand for introduction of passes was raised by the Resident Doctors Association and State Association of Medical and Dental College Teachers. Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMCH Dr KS Rana said,The passes for indoor patients attendants have been introduced with immediate effect and would be issued free of cost. Additional deployment of security guards to fulfill the long-pending need has also been done.
Four more arrested in fake marksheets case
The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday arrested four more residents of the Nankhari area of Shimla district for buying forged marksheets of Himachal Pradesh Universitys undergraduate courses and class X and class XII certificates of H.P. Board of School Education. A senior police officer of the CID wing said all four – Sunil Dutt,Om Prakash,Kapil Dev and Narender Singh – are in the age group of 24 to 25 years and have not used the forged certificates bought from the counterfeiter Gurvinder Singh for securing any job or other benefits. Gurvinder,who is in police custody,was also arrested in 1999 for issuing at least 69 forged marksheets of HP University. The CID has decided to file separate charge-sheets in the court against individuals who bought the forged certificates to ensure conviction.
Himachal to promote new tourism circuit
A new circuit Painters Delight covering the historical aspects of Kangra and Chamba paintings will shortly be introduced and the major units of HP Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) will provide one photograph of the tourists,free of cost,visiting the different complexes of the Corporation and availing of the local sight-seeing tours. Manisha Nanda,Principal Secretary (Tourism) said,The pictorial art of these regions is one of the finest gifts of Himachal to the art world and introducing the Painters Delight Circuit will attract the artists and litterateurs not only from India but also abroad.
Governor attends cricket tournament
Himachal Governor Urmila Singh ,who presided over the closing ceremony of the 5th Raj Kumar Brijender Singh Cricket Tournament at the historic Chowgan of Chamba on Monday lauded the efforts of Raj Kumar Brijender Singh Cricket Memorial Club (RKBSCMC) for providing coaching to budding cricket players of Chamba district. The governor also distributed the prizes to the winners of the tournament and released a book titled Manimahesh Pavan Yatra by Darshan Singh Verman.
Forest corporation promotes personnel
Himachal Pradesh Forest Corporation on Wednesday ordered promotions of 36 forest guards as deputy rangers and 81 deputy rangers also got their regularisation orders. The corporation also substantially revised rates of rosin and turpentine,which is expected to boost its revenue earnings. Against Rs 43 crore of business transacted during 2009-10,the current years income has already gone up to Rs 30 crore.
