Free CFLs save HP govt Rs100 cr

Himachal Pradesh government today claimed to have saved a record 270 million units of power,which helped to to make an earning of Rs 100 crore from its sale during the last one year. CM Prem Kumar Dhumal said that the government,under its energy saving campaign,had distributed four CFL bulbs free of cost to all domestic consumers and invested Rs 65 crore in the scheme.By making this spending,the government saved electricity worth Rs 100 crore in one year.

CPIM for all-party meet to discuss HP’s finances

The Himachal Pradesh state secretariat of the CPI (M) has demanded that Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal should hold an all party meeting to discuss the fiscal situation of Himachal Pradesh,particularly after the fallout of the recommendations of the 13th Finance Commission.

“State government has asked for a loan of Rs 180 crore from the Centre to meet its expenditure. Already,the total loan has surpassed Rs 23,000 crore. The Finance Commission has been most blunt towards Himachal Pradesh,” said CPIM state secretary Tikender Panwar in a statement issued here.
