Accuses the UT Administration of ‘supporting’ separatists

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today justified the action of its workers during the visit of the Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to the city for a conference on the Jammu and Kashmir problem. The party criticised the UT Administration and the police for allegedly facilitating separatists.

On Thursday,Farooq had been manhandled at the conference held at Kisan Bhawan in Sector 35. This had led to ruckus at the venue with stones being pelted and people entering into a scuffle. The police had rounded up 21 people, most of them members of different wings of the BJP.

Addressing a press conference today, president of the city unit Sanjay Tandon questioned how the Administration could give permission to such people to hold conferences. “Our people were beaten up. Their complaints should also be heard. Police are supporting the separatists and torturing nationalists. There should be a probe against Internationalist Democratic Party that organised the conference, its background and the people running it. It needs to be probed who is funding and their accounts should be sealed,” said Tandon.

Farooq while addressing the gathering had termed Jammu and Kashmir as separate from India that triggered the incident.
