The former president of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee and SAD candidate from Bholath,Bibi Jagir Kaur, her daughter,son-in-law,a liquor contractor and two others have been booked for allegedly attempting to bribe voters after a cargo vehicle carrying 183 whisky cartons was recovered from Talwandi Kooka village in the constituency. The vehicle was located by Congress supporters with sitting MLA and party candidate for the seat, Sukhpal Singh Khaira reaching the spot. The case was registered late on Friday night.

The vehicle was reportedly parked near a liquor vend and the contractor claimed that he was transferring stock from one place to another. Sources in the excise department, however, claimed that the contractor had not obtained the necessary permission, without which the transferring of stock is illegal.

Bibi on the other hand said that the allegations were baseless.

Eyewitnesses said that Khaira after reaching the spot informed election officials of the matter and alleged that the liquor was being arranged by SAD candidate Bibi Jagir Kaur to distribute among voters.
