Barun advances into main round

Barun Gill of Chandigarh rallied into the main round with a narrow 8-6 win over Anupam Lamba in the boys' U-16 category in the final qualifying round of the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament being held at Chandigarh Club on Sunday.

In another qualifying round on Sunday,Dalwinder Singh of Punjab ended the challenge of Divansh Pandey of Chandigarh with an easy 7-1 win.

Vikas Berwal of Haryana also booked his place in the main round with an easy 8-0 win over Mayuk Rawat while Seam Yip of Chandigarh also rallied into the main round with an 8-0 win over Rahul Meeena of Rajasthan. It was also easy going for Karandeep Singh of Punjab as he scored an 8-1 win over Dhruv of Chandigarh to book a place in the main round. Harshwardhan Singh also booked a berth in the main round as he scored a 8-2 win over Abhimanyu Singh of Rajasthan.

In the boys U-16 category,Deepak Thapar of Punjab stormed into the main round with a narrow 8-7 93) win over Sidharth Ahuja of Haryana while Yatin Kumar also moved into the main draw scored a 8-5 win over Sumitpal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir. In another match on Sunday,Srijjan Uppal of Chandigarh ended the challenge of Dhruvdas with an 8-2 win.
