A coffeetable book by its students is the perfect tribute to the Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA),which boasts of popular alumnus such as Nepal’s new Prime Minister,Baburam Bhattarai. Aptly titled Nostalgia, the book takes you through the college’s history, right from its inception in 1961 to date. “We dug out the institute’s 50-year-old history and compiled it in 231 pages,” says Samrat Chatterjee, one of the student-contributors. The book is full of interesting trivia and photographs from important parties, events and tours, and 19 articles by the alumni. Nostalgia is the story of evolution that has taken place in the CCA corridors, the fashion sensibilities of students through the times and the grind of studies. It’s the result of three months of hard work, immaculate planning and strategising, and it shows. While some students traveled to Punjab and Delhi to gather first-hand accounts of alumni’s experience and emotions, others took over the back-end production job. “For the last 20 days, students have been working on the book at nights and attending classes in the day,” says faculty member Bheem Malhotra. The book released on Friday to coincide with the inauguration of CCA’s three-day golden jubilee celebrations.
