The Aam Aadmi Party is reportedly preparing for the 2017 Assembly elections by scientifically studying the key problems of the state and work out solutions that would form the party’s manifesto.
A leader said that the study was prompted after leaders found themselves unable to give convincing answers to questions posed by the people. The party has now assigned nine experts and volunteers, two from the US and seven from Punjab, to study issues of the state.
The team of experts is being led by Col (retd) L J S Gill, an AAP volunteer from Mohali.

“We basically aim to find solutions to issues that have been constantly staring in the face of Punjab. These solutions will ultimately turn into promises in our party manifesto,” said AAP Punjab convenor Sucha Singh Chottepur.
Col Gill told The Indian Express that two US-based doctors were studying how developed countries had fought the menace of drugs and the legal issues involved.
“To find a solution to the drug menace, they were studying availability, affordability, accessibility and the magnitude of the problem,” he said.
Col Gill himself is studying the farm crisis and arriving at solutions to make the sector more profitable and prevent suicides. He has already visited major grain markets in the state during the wheat procurement season last year.
“We are documenting everything. Within a few months, we would be ready with a detailed report on the state and we would be able to suggest solutions,” he said.
