AroundTown: Docs working in prisons get raining

The aim of the training programme was to sensitise officers and educate them in the skills of emergent medical emergencies in prisons.

Chandigarh: The Institute of Correctional Administration (ICA),Chandigarh,in collaboration with PGIMER organised a two-day training programme on ‘Emergency Medical Care’ for doctors working in prisons at the Advanced Eye Centre,PGIMER. The aim of the training programme was to sensitise officers and educate them in the skills of emergent medical emergencies in prisons.

Three arrested for possessing weapons

PANCHKULA: Three people were arrested by a team of Central Intelligence Agency staff of the Panchkula police led by Inspector Karamvir,following which weapons were recovered from their possession.

The trio,who are in their early twenties,were arrested from Sector 11,Panchkula,on Saturday night while they were plotting a crime.

A country made pistol and a live cartridge wer seized. A case under the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act has been registered at the Sector-5 police station. They have been remanded to five days in police custody.

Listening a must for teaching English: Experts

Chandigarh: The British Library organised an English language teaching workshop on ‘Teaching Listening Skills’ for English teachers and trainers on Sunday. The aim of the workshop was on using British Library’s ELT resources for teaching English. It was discussed that listening is an essential part of language instruction at every level of learning.
