Quiz on environment held at GCG-11
Chandigarh: Green Thumbs,the Botanical society and Prakriti,the Environment society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls,Sector 11,Chandigarh,organized a quiz competition on Tuesday. Achla Dogra,the principal of the college,was the chief guest for the occasion. The quiz focused on various aspects of plant sciences and prevalent issues and concerns in field of environment sciences. These were covered in five visual rounds. In all there were five teams,consisting of students from both undergraduate and postgraduate classes of the college. The team C including Mukta,Norah,Abhilasha,Nisali,Prabhjot was the winner team.
Punjabi University gets new teaching block
Patiala: Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh inaugurated a Rs 1.55 crore four-storey teaching block on the universitys Baba Dhyan Das neighbourhood campus here today. The building covers an area of 18,500 square feet and constitutes the first phase of construction plan of the university.
The V-C announced an additional grant of Rs 10 lakh for enhancing the infrastructure of the campus and Rs 5 lakh for raising a barbed-wire fence around the complex. The university is running a five-year MBA and a PGDCA course on the campus. A new library stacked with more than 1,000 books gas also been constructed. It now plans to start a new diploma course in Fashion Designing and a two-year MBA course,Dr Singh said.
4-day tournament begins in Patiala>/b>
Patiala: The four-day All India Mahatma Hansraj Tournament (Punjab zone) was inaugurated by Arya Vidya Sabha,DAV College Managing Committee at DAV Public School,Bhupindra Road,Patiala,on Tuesday. More than 1500 sportspersons from Amritsar,Ludhiana,Jalandhar,Gudaspur,Mohali,Malerkotla,Nabha etc are participating in it. Regional Director Patiala and Ferozepur Zone Vijay Kumar Sharma,was the Guest of Honour. The programme commenced with assembling of athletes in the grounds of Government College of Physical Education. Zonal Secretary and Principal S.R. Prabhakar hoisted the school flag. An impressive and beautiful cultural extravaganza presented by DAV Patiala students enthralled the audience.
