Punjabi University gets new teaching block

Patiala: Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh inaugurated a Rs 1.55 crore four-storey teaching block on the university’s Baba Dhyan Das neighbourhood campus here today. The building covers an area of 18,500 square feet and constitutes the first phase of construction plan of the university.

The V-C announced an additional grant of Rs 10 lakh for enhancing the infrastructure of the campus and Rs 5 lakh for raising a barbed-wire fence around the complex. The university is running a five-year MBA and a PGDCA course on the campus. A new library stacked with more than 1,000 books gas also been constructed. It now plans to start a new diploma course in Fashion Designing and a two-year MBA course,Dr Singh said.

4-day tournament begins in Patiala>/b>

Patiala: The four-day All India Mahatma Hansraj Tournament (Punjab zone) was inaugurated by Arya Vidya Sabha,DAV College Managing Committee at DAV Public School,Bhupindra Road,Patiala,on Tuesday. More than 1500 sportspersons from Amritsar,Ludhiana,Jalandhar,Gudaspur,Mohali,Malerkotla,Nabha etc are participating in it. Regional Director Patiala and Ferozepur Zone Vijay Kumar Sharma,was the Guest of Honour. The programme commenced with assembling of athletes in the grounds of Government College of Physical Education. Zonal Secretary and Principal S.R. Prabhakar hoisted the school flag. An impressive and beautiful cultural extravaganza presented by DAV Patiala students enthralled the audience.
