Retd colonel dies of heart attack while playing golf
Chandigarh:A 70-year-old retired colonel died after suffering a heart attack while playing golf at the Golf Club in Sector 6 on Wednesday evening. According to a police officer investigating the case,on Wednesday,colonel (retired) Jagjit Singh,a resident of Sector 33,was playing golf at the Golf Club when he suddenly collapsed on the floor and was then rushed to GMSH-16 where he was declared brought dead. Singh is survived by his wife and two sons,the officer added.
Anupama: Committee report likely on Nov 3
Chandigarh:The inquiry committee looking into the delay in treatment given to teenager Anupama at PGI which allegedly caused her death is likely to submit its report in a meeting on November 3,a tentative date. Sources say that this could be the final meeting of the committee before it submit its report to the PGI director. The report will definitely include dos and donts for the future to improve the functioning of the PGI in handling such trauma cases. One of the doctors in the committee said that the report will have measures to ensure that in the future a trauma case should be taken up on priority basis for surgeries.
BSP councillor visits Ramdarbar
Chandigarh:BSP councillor Jannat Jahan visited Ramdarbar along with officials of the Municipal Corporation to hear the grievances of the residents. Directions were given for cleaning up the area and carpeting of roads. The area had been witnessing problems due to non-functional streetlights and blocked sewerage system.
Kids campaign against open manholes
Chandigarh:Following a spate of recent incidents in Chandigarh wherein children lost their lives after falling into open manholes,the kindergarten kids of The Olive Kid Preschool at Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School,Sector 37,Chandigarh,carried out a campaign in the sector,hunting for open manholes.

Training for UT cops to deal with tourists
Chandigarh:The Tourism Police Training Programme organised by the UT Police in association with the Chandigarh Tourism department to impart behavioural skills for properly dealing with tourists in the city culminated on Wednesday. A total of 30 police constables participated in the programme.
