The Ambala police seized fake currency notes valued at Rs 6 lakh from a gang of six persons at the Ambala Cantonment Railway Station on Monday night.

Ambala: The Ambala police seized fake currency notes valued at Rs 6 lakh from a gang of six persons at the Ambala Cantonment Railway Station on Monday night. Superintendent of Police Sashank Anand said the team had information that six persons including three from Begusarai in Bihar were to deliver the counterfeit currency notes to some persons in Ambala. The six persons were taken into custody while they were boarding a car waiting outside the station near the GRP PS. It is learnt that 600 notes were of Rs 500 and 300 of Rs 1000 have been recovered. The police have registered a case under Section 489A,B and C IPC for possessing counterfeit currency notes.

Four-wheeler parking banned in Ambala Cantonment markets
Ambala: To solve the problem of traffic in the main markets and shopping centres of Ambala Cantonment,the police have banned the parking of four-wheelers and three-wheelers in Rai Market,Sadar Bazar,Sarafa Bazar,Nicholson Road,Sadar Bazar Chowk to Sabzi Mandi Bazaar. Giving information,Superintendent of Police Sashank Anand said the regulation of traffic had become a big problem in the city. He said that vehicles should be parked in parking lots reserved for the purpose. He said that those violating the law would be liable to be imprisoned for a period of six months or a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 72 of HPA.

Chandimandir celebrates Gunner’s Day
handigarh: THE Regiment of Artillery celebrated its 183rd anniversary on Tuesday at Chandimandir. The Gunner’s Day commemorates the birth of the first Artillery unit namely the Bombay Battery on 28 September,1827. The Gunners have repeatedly proven their mettle in battle by their outstanding contributions,both in valour and indomitable resolve in providing timely,accurate and devastating fire power. The battlefield of the future holds immense promise for the Gunners with the induction of the latest state-of-art-weapon-systems into their armory. The Gunners have done admirably well in counter insurgency operations and on numerous awards and unit citations.

On this Raising Day,both retired and serving officers and other ranks of the regiment of Artillery paid homage to the martyrs. A Mandir function and Sainik Sammelan were held in the local unit. The celebrations also included a social get-together at the Officer’s Institute,Chandimandir,organized by serving Gunners officers under the aegis of Lt Gen MS Buttar,VSM,and Chief of Staff Western Command.

International youth festival begins
Chandigarh: On the second day of the 5th International Youth Fest organised from September 27 to October 1 in association with NGO,Yuvsatta,a series of events were organised at Gurukul Global School and College,Sector 32,Chandigarh.

Gurukal Global School hosted around 60 students from across the world. The students were welcomed at school campus in the traditional way and to familiarise them with the Indian tradition,a hawan was conducted and the students were made to participate in the same.
