Judge bribery case: Arguments on charges on Oct 22,23

Chandigarh:Arguments on the framing of charges against Justice (retd) Nirmal Yadav and all other co accused in the infamous Judge Bribery case will be addressed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 22 and 23. Noted lawyer Anupam Gupta and special public prosecutor for the CBI will address the special CBI court on the two dates. The court also directed Yadav to appear before it on the next hearing. P3

JD(U) demands statehood for UT

Chandigarh:President of the Chandigarh Territorial Janta Dal United Surinder Bhardwaj today said that now that the tag of a disturbed area has been removed from Chandigarh,the powers of the Punjab governor,who has been given the power of UT Administrator since 1984,should also be repealed. He also demanded that just like Delhi,which is the national capital,Chandigarh should be made the 29th state in the country and it should be given the status of a tri-state capital.
