Chandigarh:Samples of two patients from Punjab sent to PGIMER have tested positive for swine flu. According to sources,one of the patients belongs to Ludhiana while the other is from Hoshiarpur. As of now these patients are at the hospitals in their own towns,but now after testing positive,it is likely that they would be brought here,said a doctor at PGIMER.

Third car break-in in three days at Ambala

Ambala:A third incident of looting of cash from a car came to light in the wake of two such incidents in the last two days. The thieves took away Rs 2 lakh by breaking open the glass window of a car parked in front of a shop at Nicholson Road,Ambala Cantonment,today. The victim Anil Jain was a scientific instruments manufacturer and had stayed to consult the doctor at the clinic. On his return he found the glass was broken and the cash kept in a bag was missing. The thieves also took away cheque books and other valuable documents.

ASI arrested for accepting bribe

Ambala:A police ASI,Ishwar Singh,posted at Kalamb police post was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 4000 from a tractor trailer owner today. The State Vigilance Bureau SP Mata Ravi Kiran said that the complainant alleged that the ASI had stopped him at the barrier between Himacal and Haryana and demanded the money to let his tractor to cross into Haryana border. The vigilance team raided the police post but on seeing them,the ASI threw the amount in bushes and tried to flee. He was,however,overpowered by the team.
