IT sleuths conduct searches at offices of two housing developers
SAS NAGAR: Income Tax (Investigations),Ludhiana,on Friday carried out search operations at residences and offices of two housing developers in SAS Nagar. Sources confirmed that Bajwa Developers and Gilco Valley were searched in the afternoon. Bajwa Developers is a flagship company of Bajwa Group of companies,set up in 2001,are PUDA approved promoters. Their first major project was by the name of Sunny Enclave in Desu Majra in Kharar. Gilco Valley is located on Chandigarh-Kharar highway (NH 21). Sources said about Rs 40 lakh could be recovered from Bajwa Developers. But J S Bajwa,owner of the company said,We received the money from a sale to an NRI and I have submitted all the relevant documents to income tax sleuths. Total unaccounted wealth would be declared by the IT department on Saturday.
Husband booked on complaint of wife
SAS NAGAR: The Kharar police station registered a case of subjecting a woman to cruelty against the husband and mother-in-law of the victim. Yogita Bindra,a resident of Kharar in her complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) said that she was married to Sandeep Bindra in 2005. Soon after the marriage,Sandeep and his mother-in-law started beating her. The complaint was investigated by the women-cell and a case under section 498 A of the IPC was registered against the accused.
Man electrocuted to death
SAS NAGAR: In a freak incident,a migrant labourer died after a metal ladder he was carrying accidentally touched the overhead wires at TDI City near Kharar. The deceased has been identified as Sulesh Kumar (23) who was working as a daily wage labourer. He died on the spot and his body is being kept at Civil Hospital,Kharar.
Man commits suicide
SAS NAGAR: A 50-YEAR old man committed suicide in Phase 3B2,Mohali by hanging himself. The deceased has been identified as Yograj Sharma,a resident of Johl village in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Sharma was working as a watchman in the Punjab Mandi Board in Ludhiana. He had come to meet a retired officer of the Mandi Board in Phase 3B2. The deceased stayed in the annex of the officers house. On Friday morning,the family members of the officer found Yograj hanging from the bathroom of the building. Investigating officer,Balraj Singh said,We have sent the body for postmortem to the Government Civil Hospital,Phase 6. We have not recovered any suicide note from the spot.
BJP complains against Lalit Siwach
Chandigarh: The councillors of BJP and SAD met Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj Patil to complain against the Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation. The complaint follows the walkout by the officials at the House Meeting held on August 29. The delegation alleged that Additional Commissioner,Lalit Siwach has biased attitude towards the councillors of the Opposition. During the House Meet,BJP councillors had sat on the floor demanding that Siwach be removed from his post.
