Take other routes: Cops to Panchkula residents

Panchkula: About 10,000 workers of Sarav Karamchari Sangh,Haryana,plan to assemble at Parade Ground or Yavnika Park,Sector 5 Panchkula,on Wednesday and they will proceed towards Chandigarh to protest before the Haryana Assembly Session. This protest march will go from Yavnika Park,Sector 5,to Sector 7/8 dividing road,upto to Housing Board Chowk,Manimajra,to Chandigarh. Panchkula police has requested to the citizens of Panchkula and the general public to avoid this route and to prefer alternate routes to avoid any inconvenience.

Man arrested under Arms Act

Mohali: The Mohali police have arrested Satbir Singh,a resident of Shanti Nagar,Karnal,under the Arms act. Police have recovered a .315 bore country made pistol and two live cartridges from his possession. A case under Sections 25,54 and 59 under the Arms Act have been registered against the accused.

8-yr-old drowns near Ambala

Ambala: An 8 year-old-boy drowned in a water reservoir constructed by a contractor during construction of Mahila Chaupal at village Brahmin Majra,5 km from Ambala Cantonment. The deceased boy,identified as Sumit,fell into the 8 feet deep reservoir while playing with the children. As soon as the villagers came to know of the incident,they rushed to the spot and brought out the boy and rushed to the hospital. The doctor after examining the boy declared him dead. Residents alleged that the boy drowned due to the contractor’s negligence towards covering the reservoir.
