Mansa Devi woman died of jaundice: Post-mortem report

Panchkula: The post mortem report of the old woman who was found dead in her flat in GH-1 of Sector 5,Mansa Devi,confirmed that the woman was suffering from jaundice and died as she fell down after she fainted. Gayatri Devi’s (65) body had an injury on its head and it appeared to be a murder though all other things were intact in the house. On the complaint of her brother,the police had even registered a case of murder. The post-mortem report,which was handed over by PGI Rohtak,confirmed that it was not murder. She was unmarried and her brother Shravan Gupta owns Panchkula Engineering College.

Advocate robbed

PANCHKULA: Thieves broke into the house of advocate Himmat Singh Kang,who works in the Punjab Advocate General office,in Sector 7 here on Tuesday and allegedly took away valuables worth 6-7 lakh. Police reached the spot soon after receiving the information but are yet to register a case. At the time of the incident,Kang’s father and a servant were at home.

2 booked for cheating

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against Akshay and Ajay Grover of Sector-18 for cheating their cousin Atul Grover of Rs 4 crore. Police said Atul alleged that the brothers had promised him a plot for the money but did not give him possession of the land and failed to return his money. Police are investigating.

UT to promote tourism

Chandigarh: To promote cinematic tourism in the region,the Chandigarh Administration is organising the North India Cinematic Tourism Conclave in the city tomorrow. Union Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay will be the chief guest at the conclave. The neighbouring states of Punjab,Haryana,Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the event,being organised by the Administration in collaboration with Northern India Management Association at Hotel Mountview.

PU professor gets award

CHANDIGARH: Purva Kansal,Assistant Professor,a Marketing and Strategic Management Faculty at University Business School,Panjab University,was awarded with the “Best Professor in Marketing” in CMO Asia Awards 2011 at Suntec Singapore on July 22,2011.

MPhil test on Friday

CHANDIGARH: Entrance Test for admission to M Phil (Political Science) will be held on July 29 in the Department of Political Science,Arts Block IV,PU Campus. The question paper will comprise two questions,both carrying equal marks.
