Balongi man robbed of cash,cell phone

Mohali: A resident of Balongi near Mohali,Pankaj Kumar,was robbed of cash and his mobile phone at knife-point near Dara Studio in Phase VI here in the wee hours,the police said here on Monday. Kumar told the police that he was on his way back home from a religious programme at the Dussehra Ground in Phase I here. When he was passing through Phase VI,two unknown persons intercepted him and snatched Rs 200 and his mobile phone.

Linesman succumbs to accident injuries

Chandigarh: Assistant linesman Madan Singh,who met with an accident while working on an electricity line on October 23,succumbed to his injuries today. He was admitted at the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32. The electricity employees assembled at GMCH and held a protest,demanding that the Administration give a job to Singh’s wife.

Naunihal inspectsPCR parade

Chandigarh: The inspection Parade of the Police Control Room Staff was organised at the Parade Ground,Police Lines,Sector-26 today. Naunihal Singh,Senior Superintendent of Police,inspected the parade. 650 personnel of the PCR and communication wing participated in the Parade.

ABKM Rath Yatra reaches city

CHANDIGARH: The Rath Yatra by the Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Mahasabha (ABKM) to demand reservation on economic grounds instead of caste reached the city. The yatra had been flagged off from Jammu on October 17 by Digvijay Singh,Union Minister and the national president of the Mahasabha.
