Russian artistes perform in city,praise Indian culture

Chandigarh:As a sign of friendship between Russia and India,a program was organized by the ‘Divine Light Culture Group’,artistes from the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University,Russia who entertained the residents of Chandigarh with music and dance performances for three days. They will now be entertaining at the Brahma Kumaris World headquarters at Mount Abu. In their adieu to the city residents,the students praised Indian culture and said that the Russian people have a great regard for it.

Sharma felicitated on becoming general secretary,State Bank of Patiala

Chandigarh:Cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra felicitated Parmod Sharma on his victory by 792 votes for the post of general secretary of State Bank of Patiala – All India Officers Bank Association. The elections were held after a period of 18 years. The Sharma group won all 61 seats.

Traffic awareness programme to be held to mark Police Week

Chandigarh:The police department,Chandigarh,has organized a traffic awareness program for Police Week. A helmet rally will be held at the Plaza,Sector 17,on October 30. Also,a painting competition and a street play will be held on awareness of traffic rules. The program will start at 9.45 am.

Senior citizens attend session on brain strokes

Chandigarh:Over 90 senior citizens participated in a special session on brain strokes addressed by Dr H S Mann,Associate Consultant,Neurology,Fortis Hospital,Mohali at the Senior Citizen Home,Sector 43 on Saturday. Dr Mann talked about the growing incidence of heart strokes,making them the third leading cause of death or disability worldwide,including in India.

Man’s bag disappears at wedding function

Chandigarh:A bag was reportedly stolen from the community center in Sector 8 at 12.40 am on October 28 when the complainant,Rajinder Monga,was attending a wedding function. However,the police officials said that the complainant had misplaced the bag and was not sure where he had kept it.
