After a month of arresting three suspected members of the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) outfit under a joint operation of Mohali and Delhi Police,Zirakpur police claimed to have arrested another suspected BKI ultra here today. Police said Avtar Singh was the younger brother of a France-based suspected BKI ultra Purshotam Singh and was arrested from the bus stop of Matodi village in Ambala. It was on March 18 that BKI suspected members Daljit Kumar alias Deepak and Purshotam Singh alias Bunty were caught near Nabha Sahib gurdwara on Zirakpur-Patiala National Highway when Deepak arrived from Delhi with an alleged hawala transaction of Rs 1 lakh to meet Bunty at Zirakpur. Cash amount of Rs 1 lakh,a .455 bore sophisticated revolver and three live cartridges were also recovered from their possession. On Deepak’s disclosure, another suspected BKI ultra Tarwinder Singh, who had handed over Rs 1 lakh cash, which he had allegedly received from abroad for funding terrorist activities in the state, was also arrested from Krishna Nagar,Delhi,on March 20.

The three were working on the behest of two France-based members of BKI Purshotam Singh and Goldy, both from Ambala in Haryana, who were involved in the attempt made on the life of the then Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal in 1991.
