Ambala defeated Chandigarh by 27 runs in a rain-affected match during the opening match of the Haryana U-16 inter-district tournament held at GMSS-19 in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Batting first,Ambala made 218 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted quota of 40 overs. Skipper Parabal Sharma anchored the Ambala innings with his blazing knock of 91 runs in 82 balls. Parabal Sharma took the Chandigarh bowlers to task and dispatched some incredible shots all over the park. Others contributors included,Sandeep (29) and Sagar (22). From the Chandigarh side,Shbaan Rana and Amandeep picked up two wickets each.
Chasing the daunting target of 218 runs,Chandigarh team looked in good nick,till rain interrupted the game. Chandigarh were 102 for the loss of four wickets in 25 overs when the play was stopped owing to rain showers. Later,Ambala were declared the winners by Duckworth-Lewis method. Ambala were 129 for the loss of three wickets in 25 overs.
