‘Accelerate pace of development programmes’

Chief Secretary Rajwant Sandhu has asked all officers to take new initiatives to accelerate the implementation of development programmes. Sandhu said the policies and programmes of the government needed to be objectively implemented. Addressing principal secretaries,secretaries and heads of departments after assuming office on Monday,she said governance was in continuity and it should be ensured that various projects and developmental schemes under execution were completed within the stipulated time. “Good initiatives taken in the past in the field of information technology need to be carried forward as it has had good impact. E-service books,SMSes and e-mails should be encouraged and should be a part of the governance system,” Sandhu said. She also stressed on inter-departmental coordination to cut down litigation and also making gram sabhas in rural areas more meaningful by ensuring maximum participation of people.
