City-based educationist and the director of Dikshant International School,Mitul Dikshit,presented a paper on Thinking School: Putting Learning back into Education at the London International Conference on Education held from November 9 to 12,2009 in London,UK. He shared his experience of the conference at a press conference held in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Addressing mediapersons during the conference,Dikshit said he presented his paper along with world renowned academician like Mike Cole,Research Professor in Education and Equality,University of Cambridge,Jone Freeman,a distinguished psychologist from Middlesex University,London,among others.
The paper of Dikshit dealt with the changes required in the education system globally,where students still need to learn facts but need to move away from memorising them in a slightly mindless way towards appreciating what all this information means and how it relates to different things.
The paper also focused on introducing revolutionary ways of mind mapping and ways to improve thinking skills of students and the school staff.
The Dikshant International School has also signed an exchange programme to facilitate the visit of its students and staff with Eton College,Harrow School,Wellington College and Gordonstoun School of the UK. Eight Class IX students and two teachers of the Dikshant International School will spend 45 days beginning from April 25,2010 to June 15,2010,and will stay at the campuses of the UK institution.
