AAP raise Rs 1 crore over week-long fundraiser parties

The party has raised over Rs 1 crore over lunch or dinner parties from March 13 to 19 at different parts of the state.

Ahead of the Hola Mohalla political conference in Anandpur Sahib on March 23, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is on a fund-raising spree. The party has raised over Rs 1 crore over lunch or dinner parties from March 13 to 19 at different parts of the state.

“We were able to collect Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh per meal. The token amount per person was Rs 5,000 per plate,” said Durgesh Pathak, AAP’s national organisation building head. “We need the money to fund our various activities.”

On Saturday, around 350 people had lunch with AAP leaders at Chand Palace in Faridkot. MPs Bhagwant Mann, Sadhu Singh and other leaders attended the meeting. “The party collected Rs 17.5 lakh,” said Gurdit Singh Sekhon, Incharge of AAP in Faridkot. “Rs 5,000 was token amount per person, but a number of them even gave Rs 10,000 or more.”

“We have clean money to run our campaign,” said Pathak. “We also collect funds through Aap Ka Daan in which people donated as much as they wanted.”

The party is not done yet. “The next set of fund raising lunch or dinner parties will be started from March 24- once we are through with Hola Mohalla political conference,” he said.

Nava Punjab campaign from March 25

AAP’s youth will begin a pad yatra from March 25 from Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib. It will end on April 5 at Hussainiwala. “It will be a public movement in which youth workers will walk 280 km by foot and during the campaign, the workers will highlight the miseries being faced by residents of Punjab. The march will cover 120 villages of Punjab,” said  Harjot Singh Bains, President of AAP, youth wing.  ENS
