Taking strict note of the case wherein the Panjab University (PU) affiliated SGGS Khalsa College,Mahilpur,in Hoshiarpur took the M Sc Chemistry IV semester against the new date sheet,the PU has decided to conduct re-examination of paper I,II and III of the class. The varsity has also constituted a committee to investigate into the matter.
The committee has been asked to submit the report in a time-bound manner. The PU has canceled the previously conducted papers of MSc-IV semester. As many as 210 students had appeared in the subject exam. Fresh examinations for Chemistry Paper-I,Paper-II and Paper-III of semester IV will now be conducted on July 2,July 5 and July 8 respectively.
The committee will also investigate why a college conducted the examination as per the first uploaded date sheet and why it did not conduct the examination as per the due date sheet.
A PU spokesman has regretted the inconvenience caused to the students and added that the re-examination is being conducted to maintain the sanctity of the examination. The examination will be conducted as per the new date sheet.
The PU spokesman said that on May 1,initially a date sheet for the post graduate courses was uploaded on the PU website. Due to some clashes of dates,a new date sheet was uploaded and duly declared.
One college did not check the new date sheet and conducted the paper as per the old datesheet.
As a consequence,MSc Chemistry IV Semester examinations which were to be conducted on May 22,27 and June 4 respectively were conducted on May 21,25 and June 3 in that college, the spokesman said.
PU detected this incident when the sealed packets of answer sheets were opened in Secrecy Branch on June 3.
Prior to this,no information or complaint was received in that regard.
