3 Ludhiana councillors resign from party after Bains expulsion

Despite the SAD acting tough against dissent by expelling the Bains brothers,three party councillors from the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation,Parminder Singh Soma,Swarndeep Singh Chahal and Sunita Rani,resigned from the party on Thursday in support of the revolting brothers. Party sources claim that hundreds of youth Akali workers have also left the SAD to extend support to the Bains. The Akalis are facing major dissent in the region with another section of SAD workers up in arms against the party’s decision to hand the Ludhiana West and Ludhiana Central seats to the BJP. To oppose the move,former YAD general secretary Jatinderpal Singh Saluja declared himself as an independent from Ludhiana West while another Akali leader Ravinder Pal Khalsa will contest as an independent from Ludhiana Central.
